Protest City of Irvine's Change of Sister Cities

The City of Irvine recently became sister cities with the Xuhui District in Shanghai, China. Many people are outraged by the fact that in doing so, the City of Irvine has pledged to recognize only one China, would break off official relations with another of its sister cities in Taiwan and would never display the Taiwanese flag or play Taiwan's national anthem.

Several members of Congress are already looking into the matter, specifically, why Irvine is engaging in foreign policy and deciding on the status of foreign countries. We urge every concerned citizen and resident of Irvine to speak up against China's propaganda and interference in American municipal affairs. The most direct way is to attend the demonstration and hearing before the Irvine City Council on Tuesday, June 27, at 4 pm.
