Kristy Shih is a Taiwanese-American Sociologist at the University of California, Riverside who is currently conducting a research study that examines the family relationships in immigrant families from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan and would like to enlist your help in recruiting married female respondents for this new and important project!
Purpose of research: This research examines family relationships and dynamics in immigrant families with a particular interest in mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relations. This project is aimed to enhance our understandings of 1) how family relations are organized in racial/ethnic and immigrant families, 2) how cultural values and practices are created, recreated, and maintained in immigrant families, and 3) intergenerational relationships among women in immigrant families. Participant Criteria (daughter-in-laws): * Age: between 18 and 38 * Generational Status: 1.5 (immigrated before the age of 15) or 2nd generation * Marital Status: - currently married - been married to the same person for the past 12 months - married to someone of the same racial background * Has a mother-in-law who is living and lives in the U.S.
